Tamari Miyashiro Olympic Medalist | Olympic Coach | TLC Advisor

Tamari Miyashiro is a Hawaiʻi-born volleyball player and coach whose career has taken her from the courts of Kalani High School to the Olympic Games and the highest levels of international volleyball.

A graduate of Kalani High School, Miyashiro was a standout athlete who earned All-State honors and was named the 2004 Hawaiʻi Gatorade Player of the Year. She continued her career at the University of Washington, becoming one of the nation’s premier defensive players. Miyashiro was a three-time AVCA All-American, two-time National Defensive Player of the Year, and finished her collegiate career as Washington’s all-time leader in career digs. Miyashiro joined the U.S. Women’s National Volleyball Team as a libero in 2010 and went on to earn a silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

After transitioning from athlete to coach, she joined the U.S. Women’s National Team coaching staff and helped Team USA achieve continued international success, including its historic gold medal at the Tokyo Olympic Games. Her coaching career has continued at the highest levels of the sport, including serving as an assistant coach for Team USA and coaching professionally. Throughout her career, Miyashiro has remained committed to developing athletes, sharing her knowledge, and giving back to the volleyball community.

The Loʻi Collective Foundation In 2024, Miyashiro joined The Loʻi Collective Foundation (TLC) as an Advisor, bringing her experience as an Olympian, elite-level coach, and Hawaiʻi athlete to the organization. In this role, she supports TLC’s efforts to create opportunities for youth through sports, leadership, education, and community-based programs. Her involvement reflects a shared commitment to giving back and helping Hawaiʻi’s next generation of athletes and leaders recognize what is possible through hard work, opportunity, mentorship, and community.
